The Santa Fe JV Indian football team improved to 2-3 on the season Thursday evening with a shut-out of the Ball High JV.
The Indian Defense pressured the Ball High offense throughout the game and had a number of players finish the game with tallies in the sack column for the Indians. Michael Moore, Logan Pettus, Amado Vasquez, Jose Avila, and Chandler Bardwell all had at least one sack. Defensive Tackles Lane James, Gage Slaughter, and Dimitrios Pagourtzis played a huge role in stopping the Tor’s running game.
Kolby McMains came up with a crucial interception off a tipped ball that was the result of a Carlos Munoz hit on the receiver to stop one Tornado drive. And Munoz had an interception on the final series of the game to ice the win for the Indians.
The Indian Offense was led by a 100+ yard performance from running back Andrew Montemayor as well as two passing touchdowns by quarterback Rey Montemayor. One to TE Jacob Smircic who was returning from injury and to Munoz as well (who was among several players who played both ways for the Indians).
The JV will next play at Galena Park on Thursday of homecoming week, October 13.
